Johnny is a sweet cat who wants loving, but doesn't always know how to get it.

He was found in Oakley, hiding behind a bush with his mother Nefertiti watching over him (she was already adopted).This was in June 2012, during the heat wave. Both Johnny and his mother were severely dehydrated and under-nourished. I believe that this is how Johnny suffered his brain injury, because of hyperthermia. After nursing him back to health for a few weeks I was able to start handling him, and as we built a relationship, I began to notice his peculiar habits.

His symptoms are mild. I like to consider him just a quirky little guy. There are times when he seems to be lost and will cry out loud. It is a little startling, because he sounds as if he is in pain, but it is just his way of saying, "Hey, I'm a little confused right now, can you help me out?" He loves to be petted, but you have to let him come to you. If I walk up to him, standing up right he will bolt. If I get down low, or am sitting, he will come right up to me and start rubbing on me and wanting attention. When he is being petted he will behave a little awkwardly, he will roll and move around, then realizing he has moved away from you, come closer, then do it again. He seems to be "jolted" by things unseen at times. He will suddenly change course or bat at nothing. His eyes, if you look, are a little off. They seem to stay dilated for extended periods of time, unrelated to light source. His posture is also a little off. As I said, these symptoms are mild for a brain injury and just make Johnny a little different from other cats, who says everyone has to be "normal"?

Johnny may be a little more "work" than other cats but I know the pay off will be more than worth it. To see him come so far has been amazing. He deserves a chance at the "good life" where a family can love him for the rest of his life.

Johnny is neutered,microchiped and has had his shots. He does well with other cats but has never been exposed to dogs.
